Who We Are

Aarm Dental Group was founded in 1985 by Dr. Jim Armstrong. Jim is a graduate of the dental school at the University of British Columbia. Jim is a fanatic about fishing, skiing, mountain biking and, of course, his family. Jim’s vision for Aarm was a group of like minded professionals who are dedicated to private practice, but maintain an “academic orientation” through life long participation in graduate training programs. Many Aarm dental partners also teach at dental schools or international/national dental organizations.

Dr. James Armstrong

Dr. Jim Armstrong is a past president (2007/2008) of the British Columbia Dental Association representing all 3200 BC dentists and serving the 4 million plus BC residents. Jim is the BC representative on the Board of Directors of the Canadian Dental Association. Jim’s passions have been improving access to care for financially challenged segments of the population both in BC and Canada, with a special emphasis on expanding reduced fee clinics for low income seniors, children and families, and the homeless and indigent across all areas of BC. He is presently the Chairman of the Economics Committee for the BCDA as well as managing doctor of the Aarm Dental Group. Jim teaches dental students through the BCDA lecture series at UBC, and is also an Adjunct Professor in the Sauder School of Business at UBC where he teaches executive education programs for dentists.

When he has free time, it is spent with family, skiing and fishing. Jim continues his own post-graduate training in aesthetic and cosmetic dentistry in a post-graduate training program for now over 25 years.

Dr. Geoffrey Dice

Dr. Geoffrey Dice was born and raised in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, and graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with Distinction in 2007. He practiced dentistry for five years in Saskatoon prior to moving to the West Coast to live with his partner. He is passionate about helping people and about providing compassionate, gentle care. His main areas of interest are pursuing a socially responsible practice, and empowering patients to improve and maintain excellent oral health as part of a whole practice of wellness with a strong focus on prevention. He attempts to bring a philosophy of ethical practice into his daily living.

In his spare time, Dr.Dice enjoys the outdoors, all things creative and artistic, singing, playing the piano, poetry, and long-distance running and yoga.

Dr. John Roach

Dr. John Roach has practiced dentistry for over 40 years, graduating from Dalhousie University practicing in both Ontario and Vancouver with a practice on Georgia street for over 30 years He has been an instructor and student in graduate dental education for virtually his whole 40 years, presently Dr. Roach is a clinical instructor for 3rd and 4th years students at UBC. Dr. Roach’s passions are golf, traveling with his wife Trish, and learning to “blog” in order to train the next generation of UBC dental students.
